ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, implement, and evaluate daily recreation activities including arts and crafts and passive and physical activities, for a comprehensive summer playground program.
• Direct and supervise youth in daily planned activities including appropriate usage of the playground and other recreation equipment.
• Prepare for publication a weekly schedule of activities including times and locations of scheduled activities.
• Maintain order and safety by enforcing rules and regulations developed by the recreation department.
• Act as a positive role model, encourage good habits; discourage disruptive and bad behavior such as profane language.
• Teach games and other various activities that promote teamwork, participation and good sportsmanship.
• File, maintain, and submit in a timely manner accurate, related records, reports and statistics for the summer camp program.
• Maintain positive public relations, and enthusiastically support the Carlisle Parks and Recreation Department.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES

• Encourage participation by planning and organizing a comprehensive, cohesive program attractive to youth.
• Prepare, for publication, miscellaneous correspondence such as posters, flyers, and information letters to parents/guardians.
• Coordinate activities with other Playground Leaders.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and equipment
• Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties such as inspection of the playground apparatuses and surrounding area(s) for safety hazards

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to lead a community playground.
-Related course study and/or at least one year volunteer or professional experience with recreation or education (preferred).
-Be at least a junior in High School

Job Type: Part-time Monday-Friday NO WEEKENDS (Seasonal late May-late August)

Pay: $11.00 to $14.50 /hour

Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
